Art on the farm Weekly...San Geronimo Valley Community Center Exhibit & Reception

It was a lovely afternoon in San Geronimo Valley, where Helge Hellberg, of Marin Organic, addressed a crowd of about fifty guests and artists who came to view the new art produced on Marin Organic farms. The adjoining two galleries at the Community Center are bright, airy and it is easy to view the art. It is much more intimate than our last group show at the Marin Center. If you haven't visited the SGCC lately, you will enjoy the stained glass windows depicting Valley landscapes, and the W.P.A. mural outside the Valley Room that has been restored, with prints available. Click here to view the full album of the "Art on the Farm" reception on Flickr.

Art on the Farm... History + Press

 Our History
Founder, Alan Mart
Art on the Farm was the vision of Bolinas farmer and artist, Alan Mart.  In 1998, Alan decided that he would never have the time to make art outside of being a farmer, if he didn't create the time.  Art on the Farm was Alan's way of making the time for his art.  Since 1998, artists from the Bay Area and beyond have stepped up to assist in Alan's mission, to create art inspired by farms, and give back to the farmers.  Read below for mentions of "Art on the Farm" in the news.  Click here to view a slideshow of highlights >

I want to take this opportunity to thank the West Marin Citizen for printing our images over the past year. Jim Kravets has been wonderful about including our group and several photos in his paper since we started our website and blog in 2008. Above is his most recent contribution to our group's publicity, and an ad for our group show, reception, and chat with Helge Hellberg of Marin Organic, and Diane Matthews of Mt. Barnabe Farm, this Saturday, July 11, 4-7pm at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center Gallery. Thank you, Jim!

Art on the Farm Weekly... Cow Track Ranch 2009

Tuesday, May 12, 2009
The "Art on the Farm" group ventured out to Nicasio, California today to Lizzie Daniels stunning property, "Cow Track Ranch", just past downtown Nicasio and the Nicasio school. It was a sunny, 64 degree day, with light winds, and perfect weather for outdoor painting. Lizzie boasts of her Marin County Fair "Best of Show" Merlot Red Lettuce(photos below), and it was a sight to behold, growing all over the property, surrounding the barns, amongst the roses, and in the new greenhouse. Liz offered a tour of the greenhouse, where she grows all varieties of organic vegetables and herbs that are sold to businesses such as Cowgirl Creamery, and Cafe Reyes, in Pt. Reyes Station. Liz recently provided the newest restaurant, also in Pt. Reyes Station, Osteria Stellina with lettuces and produce. Cow Track sells organic seedlings/starters to Local Flora, and to several school gardens in West and Central Marin County.
"Cow Track Ranch" Organic, Merlot Lettuce, is a dark, burgundy color.

Art on the Farm Weekly... Show at Marin Center

Thank you to The Friends of Marin Center, and the Marin Arts Council for a lovely reception for the Art on the Farm show, April 19th. We learned that Lynda Larsen sold her painting of Stewart Ranch Barn that graced our group show poster for last year. This show is unique in that it is only viewable by those who attend a show at Marin Center, and have the luxury of intermission and gallery viewing with refreshments. Our next show will be in San Geronimo Valley at the Cultural Center, and more easily accessible by the public. Below are some photos of the reception, which was well attended by many of the artists.
